Adding a Librarian in Galaxy

Assigning a Librarian Who is in Your Budget

A school administrator should discuss the assignment with the librarian candidate before making the assignment in Galaxy. The Principal or Assistant Principal in Galaxy must assign the Librarian role to all pedagogues responsible for administering the library program as either a Teacher Assigned or a Certified School Library Media Specialist (SLMS)

  1. Log on to Galaxy and locate the employee you would like to recognize as a Librarian
  2. Right-click the employee’s name to open the sub-menu.
  3. From the sub-menu, select Assign Role.
  4. From the Assign Role submenu, select School Functions. You will be redirected to a Role Access Assignment page.
  5. Once on Role Access Assignment, select Librarian
  6. Verify that you have designated the correct individual.
  7. Click Save.

Assigning a Librarian Who is Not on Your Budget 

A school administrator should discuss the assignment with the librarian candidate before making the assignment in Galaxy. The Principal or an Assistant Principal in Galaxy must assign the Librarian role to all pedagogues responsible for administering the library program as either a Teacher Assigned or a Certified School Library Media Specialist (SLMS)

  1. Log on to Galaxy and select Create New Item from the New Item menu option.
  2. From the sub-menu, select People Not on Budget.
  3. Complete the details for the person you will be designating as your Librarian, then, click Save.
  4. Once added to the People Not on Budget section, right-click on the person’s name to assign a role as you would an employee on the Table of Organization.
