NYC School Library System Homepage: NYCSLS Library Council

About Us

The New York City School Library System (NYCSLS) Library Council is charged by the New York State Commissioner of Education with aligning library services to the needs and priorities of our students and schools.  Councils work with the director and coordinators to:

  • recommend policy,
  • do long-range and short-range planning, and
  • evaluate the system's services

Our discussions are valuable guides to the work of upgrading school libraries and improving instruction.
