VITAL Libraries: 27Q045

The VITAL Libraries grant program is a substantial grant award that takes NYC public school libraries to the next level. VITAL stands for Vital, Instructional, Transformative, Accessible, Learning, Libraries.

P.S. 045 Clarence Witherspoon

The Clarence Witherspoon school library aims to establish itself as the heart of learning and discovery, where students eagerly engage with materials that spark joy, nurture empathy, and expand on their knowledge. With an influx of Spanish-speaking students, the librarian is creating a multilingual, culturally responsive environment that supports both reading development and global citizenship. The Clarence Witherspoon library is a safe space where students are met at their academic, language, and social-emotional levels.
