VITAL Libraries
School library programs are VITAL and unique in students' growth and development by establishing a third space for students to inquire, create, learn, explore, and thrive. Through VITAL Libraries (Vital, Instructional, Transformative, Accessible, Learning Libraries), the New York City Public Schools' Office of Library Services will work with school leaders to grow, strengthen, and re-imagine the function, purpose, identity, and potential of school library program. Applications are due January 16, 2026. Available to only NYC public schools.

NYC School Library System Book Creator Account
Book Creator is an ERMA approved digital tool that allows users to create, publish, and share interactive eBooks. Designed for use in classrooms, school libraries, and individual creators, it supports features like text, images, audio, video, and drawing. With a simple drag-and-drop interface, Book Creator is accessible for learners of all ages and is often used for storytelling, digital portfolios, and multimedia projects. The NYC School Library System is pleased to offer school librarians and teachers-assigned to the library a Premium book Creator account. Premium gives you unlimited libraries, and you can create up to 1,000 books per teacher, allows for real-time collaboration and ability to add co-teachers, access to over 800 pages of templates, and new translation tools, as well as accessibility features. Available to public and non-publics schools.

AIAA Foundation Grant Rules A clear connection to science, technology, engineering, art, or mathematics (STEAM) with an emphasis on Aerospace must be included in the grant proposal. Applicants must be a K-12 classroom teacher with funds that will be paid to the school. Applicants must be current AIAA Educator Associate members prior to receiving this grant. (To join, please visit www.aiaa.org/educator/) Each school is limited to up to 2 grants per calendar year. Funds must be spent on the items proposed in the original application. Morris Family Foundation Requires Letter of inquiry. Interested in funding We support projects centered on learners across the lifespan. Projects may take place in traditional school-based settings, or may take the form of vocational education, distance learning or the transmission of cultural information. We are particularly interested in supporting underserved populations and creative uses of technology. We envision a way for educators to free themselves from traditional funding streams, which are generally averse to risk. We seek to provide one-time seed grants to innovative projects which may not otherwise get off the ground. Ideally, grantees will assist in building an infrastructure to support an ongoing project.

Believe in Reading GrantBelieve in Reading’s grants are renewable for up to three years, but a first year award does not guarantee any subsequent awards. At this time, the maximum grant amount is $10,000, new applicants are rarely funded for more than $3,000.

Classroom Grant Educators can apply for the Association of American Educators Foundation Classroom Grant. Grants are available for up to $500. Funds can be used for a variety of projects and materials including, but not limited to: books, software, calculators, math manipulatives, art supplies, audio/visual equipment and lab materials. Funds must be used within one year of the application deadline. Eligibility: Full-time educators who have not received a scholarship or grant from AAE in the past two years. AAE members receive additional weight in the scoring rubric. DEADLINE: Oct. 1, 2021

Dollar General Literacy FoundationBeyond Words is a disaster relief fund for public school libraries in Dollar General store communities. Grants are awarded to public school libraries that have incurred substantial damage or hardship due to a natural disaster, fire or an act recognized by the federal government as terrorism.

Supply a TeacherThe Kids In Need Foundation’s Supply a Teacher program seeks to remove the burden of having to provide necessary resources from teachers in underserved schools. With each Supply A Teacher box delivered, a teacher receives items they need to fuel a full semester of active learning for their entire class, whether they are teaching in person or remotely. Applications are open to teachers at schools where 50% or more of students are enrolled in the National School Lunch Program. Almost all New York City schools would qualify.

Brown Rudnick Charitable Foundation Grants Brown Rudnick Charitable Foundation Grants Eligibility: Created to support front-line educators who often do not have a voice in funding decisions, the Community Grants subsidize small, concrete projects, which will improve inner-city education in Boston (MA), Hartford (CT), Providence (RI), New York (NY), Orange County (CA) or Washington (DC), as well as London, England, within the coming year. The Foundation will generally consider grant applications monthly and award grants in an amount totaling not more than $2,000 in any one month. The purposes of the Community Grant Program are to simultaneously (1) encourage those involved broadly with the Brown Rudnick Center for the Public Interest to actively think about the educational needs in the communities of Boston, Hartford, London, New York City, Providence and Washington, D.C.; (2) recognize, encourage and collaborate with the front-line workers within the educational system who often do not have a voice in funding decisions; and (3) provide funding to assist with small, concrete projects or needs which will make an improvement in inner city education in Boston, Hartford, New York City, Providence and Washington, D.C. within a year of the grant award.

Home Depot Community Grants>/b> The Home Depot Foundation offers grant awards up to $5,000 to 501c designated organizations (recognized and in good standing with the IRS for a minimum of one year) and tax-exempt public service agencies in the U.S. that are using the power of volunteers to improve the community. Grants are given in the form of The Home Depot gift cards for the purchase of tools, materials, or services and are required to be completed within six months of approval date.

Walmart Community GrantThe Community Grant Program awards grants ranging from $250 to $2,500 through every local facility (Walmart Stores, Sam's Clubs, and Logistics Facilities). Applications may be received anytime from February 1, 2021 until the deadline of Dec. 31.

P Buckley Moss Foundation for Children's Education The P. Buckley Moss Teacher Grant program provides funding for art supplies. These grants are given annually and may be up to $1,000 each. The purpose of the grant is to support a new or evolving program that integrates the arts into education in the school class-room setting, with a special focus on those who learn differently. The criteria for being considered for a Teacher Grant is the development and implementation of a “hands-on” visual art learning tool. The goal is to develop a project within schools serving all children (including students who learn differently) from grades pre-K to 12 that integrates art into educational programs. Teachers who are awarded grants must have incorporated art projects into other curricula including math, science and geography.

StudentCam C-SPAN’s StudentCam is an annual national video documentary competition that encourages students to think seriously about issues that affect our communities and our nation. Students in grades 6–12 are asked to create a short (5 to 6 minutes) video documentary on a topic related to the 2023 competition theme, “If you were a newly elected member of Congress, which issue would be your first priority and why?” Choose a constitutional right, national characteristic or historic event and explain how it defines the American experience. Cash and prizes totaling $100,000 will be awarded for 150 student documentaries. Teachers listed as an adviser on the top 50 winning films will also receive a cash award. Eligibility: individuals or teams of two to three students in grades 6–8 and 9–12. Deadline is January 20
