Lambda Literary: Lambda Literary Writers in Schools

About the Lambda Literary Writers in Schools Program

The Lambda Literary Writers in Schools Program pairs an LGBTQ author with students to discuss the author’s work as either a class read or as part of a book group. Classroom teachers and school librarians apply for the program and will be awarded a class set of books, access to a digital collection via the Citywide Digital Library on Sora, and in-person or virtual author visits. Once admitted to the program, teachers, and librarians will be given a list of potential authors and books to choose from. All costs for the author and the books are covered by the NYCPS Office of Library Services and Lambda Literary. Lambda Literary nurtures and advocates for LGBTQ writers, elevating the impact of their words to create community, preserve our legacies, and affirm the value of our stories and our lives.
