Overcoming obstacles through Social Action

Concurrent Session II: Press Conference Room

Our goal as teachers and librarians is to offer literature which compels students learn to ask critical questions, and work toward positive social change. Literature about social issues can offer a glimpse into the power of social activism, not only to spur discussion and increase understanding, but also to offer readers the possibility that they can improve a situation and make a difference in the world. Come hear five authors who have written a variety of books and how they lead to important and challenging learning to promote social activism.
