Description, Goals, Intended Outcomes:
To raise awareness of, and offer practical solutions to, providing library services and access to patrons with disabilities. The goal is to make school librarians aware of their responsibility to provide equitable access to information, reading material, and technology to all, and to offer resources to enable this.
Process to Develop and Implement this Project:
To self-educate through provided resources about the various types of disabilities that may be encountered and to take an empathetic position in devising accommodations within physical spaces and in materials offered.
Budget: Dependent on needs.
Timeline: Dependent on needs. Lesson planning can be immediate. Physical alterations may take time.
Evidence of Outcomes, Possible Adaptations, Lessons Learned:
Increased participation within the disabled population; increased achievement within the disabled population.
